History
The TTU Kappa Sigma Alumni Association established the Kappa Sigma Memorial Scholarship Fund in September 1999. This endowment was created to provide annual scholarships for dedicated and academically deserving members of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Tennessee Technological University. The original $10,000 to establish the endowment was donated by family, friends, members, and alumni of the Kappa Mu Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Within this scholarship fund, separate scholarships are name to memorialize members of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Contributions
Contributors may donate additional moneys, securities, or other assets to the endowment at any time. All contributions are made directly to Tennessee Technological University's Office of University Advancement, who will acknowledge receipt of your tax-exempt charitable donation. These funds will be invested under the direction of the University's Chief Fiscal Officer in a manner that will provide the highest possible return while preserving the security of the fund. Because your donation is a qualifying contribution to a tax-exempt organization, you are eligible for participation in your employer's matching gifts program, if available. Contact your employer's personnel department for details.

Each contribution may be designated to a specific scholarship within the endowment. Undesignated contributions will be housed in the general scholarship fund until such time as enough funds are accumulated for the creation of an additional scholarship. To make a contribution, please email Marty Bradley.

Scholarships
At the end of each calendar year, the TTU Development Council will designate a percentage of the endowment to be awarded in the form of scholarships. TTU will also provide the Kappa Mu Memorial Fund Trustees with a financial statement that includes the aggregate amount contributed to each scholarship fund within the endowment. From this information, the Trustees will calculate the amount available for each scholarship for the coming year. The Office of Financial Aid will administer the scholarship program and select the recipients from a list of qualified candidates provided by the Memorial Fund Trustees. The TTU Kappa Sigma Alumni Association will announce the recipients in the spring/summer of each year, with the scholarships awarded at registration the following semester.

Earl Briley Scholarship
Brother Earl Briley, an alumnus of Tennessee Technological University and a May 2, 1969 initiate of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, was a founding member of the Kappa Mu Chapter. Earl passed away due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. This scholarship is designed to recognize a new initiate of the Kappa Mu Chapter.

John Graham Scholarship
Brother John H. Graham, a 1989 graduate of Tennessee Technological University and a January 23, 1987 initiate of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, was active both in the fraternity and the TTU Rugby Football Club. John was killed in an accident on July 17, 1994. This scholarship is designed to recognize a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity with a particular interest in rugby football.

John David Dudley Scholarship
Brother John David Dudley, a 1998 graduate of Tennessee Technological University and a January 05, 1994 initiate of the Kappa Mu Chapter, was a devoted brother of the order. John David was killed in an accident on October 01, 2000. This scholarship is designed to recognize an outstanding member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity that has demonstrated a commitment to the qualities described within the Star and Crescent.

General Scholarship Fund
Funds donated to the endowment without an individual scholarship designation will be listed under the General Scholarship Fund. These funds will accrue under the general scholarship fund until earnings of said contributions reach a reasonable amount to award an additional scholarship. Additional scholarships may be created in the future by the Kappa Sigma Memorial Fund Board of Trustees and funded by contributions made to the endowment for that express intent.
